The device has a heat exchanger (10) formed as a gas-to-gas heat exchanger for discharging heat from a vehicle battery (12). A controlling and/or regulating unit (14) adjusts an operating temperature of the vehicle battery above a standard operating temperature of the vehicle battery during a loading process, where the operating temperature is selected based on a parameter that is derived from a measured physical parameter or from outside temperature characteristics. The heat exchanger is made of a highly heat conductive material. An independent claim is also included for a heating method.
