1327595 Stabilizing oxymethylene polymer BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 17 Dec 1970 [18 Dec 1969] 59915/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division B1] A crude oxymethylene polymer containing unreacted monomer and catalyst is comminuted and mixed with a thermal stabilizer and/or antioxidant and a catalyst deactivator, and the polymer moistened with up to 10% of water prior to, during or immediately after the said mixing, the resulting product being subjected to treatment at sub-atmospheric pressure to remove at least the constituents which are volatile up to the melting point of the polymer. In the Examples, a trioxan-1,3-dioxa-cycloheptane copolymer, prepared in bulk using BF 3 . (C 4 H 9 ) 2 O and (C 4 H 9 O)CH 2 , is comminuted and mixed with an isophthalimide /N,N<SP>1</SP>-ethyleneurea/formaldehyde condensation product, 2,2<SP>1</SP>- methylene - bis - (4 - methyl - 6 - t - butylphenol), and Na 2 CO 3 , and subsequently with water also, and the product composition passed through a devolasilizing extruder. |
