1338582 Pulse counting SIEMENS AG 17 Dec 1970 [18 Dec 1969] 60080/70 Headings G4D D6Y D1D9E D1D9G and D1D14 A pulse summing apparatus includes an arrangement for receiving pulses from several remote sources thereof and pulse summing means, wherein the receiving arrangement comprises a plurality of stepping motors each arranged to receive pulses from a respective remote source thereof and a plurality of mechanical counters and pulse generators, each motor driving a respective mechanical counter and pulse generator, and wherein the summing means comprises a network having a plurality of inputs each connected to a respective pulse generator and a single output arranged to supply a number of pulses equal to the number of pulses supplied to all the inputs of the network. As described the receiving stepping motors drive respective mechanical counters 8 and a pulse generator, which comprise rotating magnets and a Hall generator, through matching gearing. The output pulse trains of the pulse generators 15 are shown in Fig. 2. These trains are passed to network 16 the output of which drives a further stepping motor which in turn drives a further mechanical summation counter. Two embodiments are described for handling both positive and negative pulses. In the first the receivers, i.e. stepper motor and mechanical counter 8, are divided into two groups, i.e. those receiving positive and negative pulses respectively, which feed respective summing networks. The two networks feed respective stepping motors which are both connected to a single summation counter via a differential gear. In the second a single summing network is fed from the receiving pulse generators via appropriately poled diodes. The network feeds pulses of both polarities to a single reversible stepping motor which is connected to a single mechanical summation counter. Specification 1338583 is referred to. |
