The illuminating unit has a LED arrangement (2) mounted on a mounting plate (1) i.e. metal core plate. Rectangular electrical contacts (41, 42) are arranged on an end section of the mounting plate, where the end section has reduced width. The electrical contacts are divided into different spatial alignment and arrangement for supplying power to the LED arrangement, where the electrical contacts are arranged along axis (8). The electrical contacts are designed as metallic contact surfaces on a surface of the mounting plate.
