PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing is provided to protect skin from oxidative stress induced by UV ray and to suppress MMP-1(matrix metalloproteinase-1) synthesis. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for anti-oxidation and anti-aging contains Eucommia Cortex extract. A food composition for anti-oxidation and anti-aging contains the Eucommia Cortex extract. The Eucommia Cortex extract has an aucubin of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. The aucubin isolated from Eucommia Cortex has an activity of suppressing MMP-1 synthesis.
