PURPOSE: A device and a method for blocking a liquefied gas storage tank are provided to block the inside of the storage tank storing liquid gas from the outside by installing a flange assembly on the position in which external force is not applied among pipe lines. CONSTITUTION: A device and a method for blocking a liquefied gas storage tank comprises a branched pipe line(L3) and an open type flange assembly(10). The branched pipe line is branched from a main pipeline(L1) which interlinks storage tanks(3). The storage tank is installed within marine suspended material. The branched pipe line is extended to the inside of each storage tank. The flange assembly is positioned on the branch line inside the storage tank. The break line comprises a feed pipeline(L4) and an exhaustion pipeline(L5). The feed pipeline supplies liquid gas within the storage tank. The exhaustion pipeline discharges liquid gas stored within the storage tank.
