APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR UPLINK POWER CONTROL IN WIRELESS COMMUNIATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling uplink power in a wireless communication system are provided to transmit a sounding signal depending on a terminal state by controlling power based on target CINRs(Carrier to Interference and Noise Ratios). CONSTITUTION: In order to perform OL(Open Loop) power control, a MAC(Media Access Control) processor(600) generates a message including information regarding a multi-target CINR for a sounding signal and a message including information regarding an NI(Noise and Interference) value of a sounding region. In order for CL(Closed Loop) power control, the MAC processor generates a message including a target CINR which is determined based on a channel value, i.e., a downlink CINR or an uplink CINR. Moreover, the MAC processer generates a message including a BS_EIRP value used for an OL power control formula and a message including an Offset_BSperss value. A TX modem(602) performs a physical layer process on a traffic burst or a packet and a control message burst, and provides the traffic burst or packet and the control message burst to a duplexer(606). The duplexer provides a signal from the TX modem to an antenna and provides a signal from the antenna to an RX modem(604) according to a duplex scheme. The RX modem performs a physical layer process on a signal from the duplexer and provides the signal to the MAC processer. An estimator(608) estimates an NI value of a sounding region using a certain signal from the RX modem and provides the estimated NI value of the sounding region to the MAC processer.
