PURPOSE: A plate-type brown pigment and a cosmetic material containing thereof is provided to improve protecting effect for the skin of a user from ultraviolet light, the polishing ability, and to prevent color changes by wetting. CONSTITUTION: A plate-type brown pigment has a structure marked as the chemical formula: K_(3x+y)Li_xTi_(2-x-y)Fe_yO_4. X and Y in the formula is in the range of 0.2<=x<=0.3, 0.05<=y<=0.5, respectively. The average thickness of the pigment is 0.1~1 microns. The average large diameter of the pigment is 10~100 microns. A cosmetic material and a powder cosmetic material contain the plate-type brown pigment.
