PURPOSE: A precursor for use in preparing lithium composite transition metal oxide is provided so the prepared lithium composite transition metal oxide exhibits high properties as an anodic active material. CONSTITUTION: A precursor for use in preparing lithium composite transition metal oxide comprises a composite transition metal compound. The composite transition metal compound is represented by the formula 1 of M(OH1-x)2. In the formula 1, the 'M' is two or more metals selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Mn, Al, Cu, Fe, Mg, B, Cr, and transition metals of Period II in the periodic table; and the 'x' satisfies the inequality of 0<x<0.5. The oxidation number of the 'M' is in the proximity of that of the lithium composite transition metal oxide.
