<p>An engine (10) includes a turbocharger (50) driven by exhaust gas, a bypass passage (53) through which the exhaust gas bypasses a turbine wheel (51) when flowing through an exhaust passage (30), a wastegate valve (54) provided in the bypass passage (53) to adjusts the flow passage area thereof, and a variable valve mechanism (40) that adjusts the valve timings of an intake valve (21) and an exhaust valve (31). An electronic control unit (70) determines whether an actual opening amount (WA) of the wastegate valve (54) deviates from a regular opening amount. If it is determined that the actual opening amount (WA) deviates from the regular opening amount, the electronic control unit (70) controls the variable valve mechanism (40) in such a manner that the pressure of the exhaust gas discharged from a combustion chamber (12) approaches the pressure of the exhaust gas, which is exhibited when the actual opening amount (WA) agrees with the regular opening amount.</p> |
