PURPOSE: A friction welding method and a friction welding apparatus are provided to improve outer appearance and increase tensile strength of a work piece which is friction-welded. CONSTITUTION: A friction welding method comprises following steps. A first work piece on a second work piece are relatively rotated and are pressurized. The two work pieces are friction-welded together. A thermal process is performed with a high frequency induction heating welder(7) around a joint of a work piece of the work piece which is friction-welded. The high frequency induction heating welder ahs a coil(7A) arranged around the peripheral part of the joint. The high frequency induction heating welder rotates the work piece and applies high-frequency current through a coil. The high frequency induction heating welder generates the high-frequency induction heat at the whole part of the peripheral part of the joint part.
