PURPOSE: A method for determining a component of an electric branch is provided to detect all states of components of a circuit supplying the power to serial or parallel loads. CONSTITUTION: A circuit receives an AC voltage and includes at least one switch and one load or more. The current is sampled in a junction point of the load and the first switch. A window comparator(5) is positioned between a terminal(1) and the terminal(3) of a traic(T) and evaluates the sampled current. The state of the component element is obtained by analyzing the amplitude of a current at plural times inside one cycle.
