Novel thiazolylbenzoic acids of the general formula wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom or a C 1-5 alkyl group, R 2 is a C 1-5 alkyl or phenylalkyl group or a phenyl group optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or C 1-5 alkyl or C 1-5 alkoxy groups and A is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a hydroxy, C 1-5 alkyl or C 1-5 alkoxy group, and addition salts thereof with mineral and organic bases are prepared by reaction of a haloacetylbenzoic acid of the general formula wherein X is a chlorine or bromine atom, with a thioamide of the general formula followed optionally by salification of the product, Pharmaceutical compositions having valuable properties with regard to fibrinolysis, platelet stickiness, ulcer and immunological processes comprise, as active ingredient, a thiazolylbenzoic acid of the first general formula above or a physiologically tolerable addition salt thereof with a suitable mineral or organic base, together with a pharmaceutically suitable carrier, and may be administered orally, rectally or parenterally.
