<p>Winding core for making pipes or vessels reinforced with tensile (e.g. glass) fibres, comprises a generally cylindrical shell of fibre-reinforced plastic with a longitudinal slot. In the expanded position of the shell, the slot is filled by a wedge. A beam, running longitudinally inside the shell, is attached to it opposite the slot. The mechanism which pulls the wedge radially inwards to collapse the core also draws the edges of the slot inwards by members attached near these edges.</p> |
