[Also in Division F2] A diverter for selectively permitting the passage of material or solid objects between one connection to the diverter and one of two or more further connections comprises a housing 1 containing a tubular diverter member 10 mounted in bearings 8, 9 for rotation by an hydraulic motor driving a toothed flange 13, there being no seals between the ends of the member 10 and the housing. The member 10 carries arms 16 supporting a self-aligning bearing 17 on which is mounted a valve disc 18 adapted to seal the outlet 6 or 7 when the diverter member 10 is aligned with the other outlet. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a three-way diverter comprises a curved tubular diverter member rotatably mounted in a housing and located in alignment with any of the three outlets by a ball-and-detent arrangement. Two or more diverters may be connected in series, Fig. 3 (not shown).
