The vehicle seat has a seat and a backrest that is formed in swiveling manner around a rotating axis (21). Displacement motion of the seat part is provided in direction of the seat part during a deviation of the backrest. Rotation of a release lever (25) is provided around another rotating axis (22) for releasing the displacement motion of the seat part. The release lever is connected to a seat part side control lever (24) such that the backrest and the seat part are connected around the former rotating axis independently from the direction of the backrest. An independent claim is included for a method for assembling a vehicle seat.
