The device has an angular base plate (4) with two side pieces, which are connected together in a connecting area (10), where the base plate consists of plastic such as polyethylene or polypropylene. The side piece has projections (16, 18) that protrude over the side piece surfaces for attachment of a lashing strap (20) in a transport position of the edge protection device. The projections are designed and arranged relative to each other such that the lashing strap runs at a distant to the connecting area in the transport position such that the connecting area is unloaded by the lashing strap in the transport position.
