The invention relates to an energy generation plant for obtaining electric energy from a wind or water current, comprising: a turbine; an electric generator with a coaxial arrangement of the rotor and stator, the rotor being an external rotor and forming part of an annular supporting structure for the turbine and the stator being held in a stator housing that is sealed off from the surrounding medium. A wall region of the sealed stator housing runs in the vicinity of the gap between the rotor and the stator in such a way that the rotor lies radially outside the sealed stator housing and the magnetic interaction between the rotor and the stator takes place through said wall region; a bearing for the annular supporting structure which comprises the rotor, said bearing bordering the gap between the rotor and the stator and being supported on the outer periphery of the sealed stator housing.
