[Also in Division B3] A rock drilling apparatus comprises a boom 15 pivotally mounted on a boom support 17, a rock drilling arrangement slidably mounted on a bracket 34 pivotally attached to the free end of the boom, and a supporting link 38 pivotally connected to the drilling arrangement, the boom and a pilot link 42, the pilot link being pivotally connected to the support 17. The boom, links 38 and 42 are so arranged that movement of the boom about axis 16 effects substantially parallel displacement of the drilling arrangement. The support 17 is mounted on a shaft 23 which is rotatable by means of hydraulically actuated racks 27, 28, Fig. 4, coacting with a gear-wheel 25 on the shaft. The pilot link includes a piston and cylinder arrangement 54-57 whereby the length of the link and angular position of the drilling arrangement relative to the boom may be adjusted. The rock drilling arrangement comprises two guide rails 36, a feed shell 45 supported on the guide rails and slidably movable relative thereto by a piston and cylinder arrangement, and a percussive drill 46 which is movable relative to the feed shell by means not shown. As an alternative to the illustrated arrangement pivot pin 33 may be directly coupled to the guide rails 36 and pivot pin 37 may be directly coupled to the bracket 34. |
