1295412 Laminates NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORP 18 Jan 1971 [19 Jan 1970] 2417/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division D1] A non-woven fabric comprises a layer of compressible, resilient foam, having a cell-defining integral network of material extending throughout the layer, and having each of its faces completely covered by a layer of non-woven textile fibres oriented in the fabrics widthwise direction, the layers being stitched together by rows of stitches extending in the fabrics' lengthwise direction. The fabric shown comprises foam layer 11 and layers 12, 13 of oriented non-woven textile fibres, the layers being stitched together by rows of stitches 20. Each row is formed by continuous yarns y-1, y-2, and has chain stitch loop components formed from both yarns on one fabric face. On the opposite fabric face each row of stitches has components 22 formed from yarn y-1, and components 23 formed from yarn y-2. One or both fabric faces may have napped raised fibres to cover the stitches. The fabric may be stitched so that one napped face is formed with ribs. The foam may be a polyurethane or ester form. The non-woven fibres may be synthetic fibres such as viscose, acrylic, polyester or polyamide fibres, or natural fibres such as cotton or wool, or blends of such fibres. The yarns may be made of natural fibres, synthetic fibres or blends of fibres, and preferably of continuous synthetic filaments. |
