PURPOSE: A projection optical system, a head-up display device for reducing power consumption are provided to project uniform virtual image and bright image which is displayed on a small liquid crystal display panel. CONSTITUTION: A projection optical system includes an illuminating unit, a relay lens(21) and a projection lens(L1). The illuminating unit irradiates a fan from the rear of the LCD panel. The illuminating unit radiates the indication light from the frontal surface of the LCD panel. The indication light has the information of the image indicated on the LCD panel. The relay lens condenses the indication light. The relay lens images as the real image enlarges the image indicated on the LCD panel. The projection lens reflects the expanded real image of the image imaged by the relay lens to the reflecting surface. |
