PURPOSE: A display device and a method for adjusting luminance of the display device are provided to effectively avoid deterioration of image quality even though an external light sensor is installed in an effective pixel area. CONSTITUTION: An external light is concentrated. An external light sensor(9) is installed in a sub pixel of an effective pixel area. The external light sensor outputs an external light amount detection result for adjusting luminance of an image. A display device has a color correction tool. The color correction tool corrects a change of a localized color due to arrangement in a sub pixel.
