A bridge device 10 for a disk drive 20 has the input/output I/O terminals 131 to which an external automatic controlling apparatus 30 is connected, so the external automatic controlling apparatus 30 directly controls a disk tray of the disk drive 20 to move in or move out without a computer 40. In addition, the bridge device also further has a computer connecting interface 14 and port 141, to which the external computer 40 is connected. The bridge device has a processor 11 for converting data between a first data format for the disc drive and second format for the disc tray controlling interface. The bridge device may also convert between the first data format and a third data format for the computer interface. The disc controlling port 12 and interface 121 may be SATA or IDE and the Computer connecting port 141 and interface 14 may be USB or IEEE 1394.
