A discharge lamp and a method for manufacturing same are provided to prevent damage to a glass valve by forming an adhesion layer between the end of a metal body and a glass valve. In a discharge lamp and a method for manufacturing same, a discharge lamp is composed of a glass valve(1) consisting of a hard glass. A discharge space(11) is formed inside of the glass valve and it is filled with inert gas and Hg consisting of the mixed gas of the argon(Ar) and neon(Ne). A fluorescent material layer(2) is composed of a fluorescent layer with 3-band fluorescent substance is formed on an inner surface of the glass valve. A metal terminal is formed on both end part of the glass valve, and the metal terminal is composed of a solder layer(31) and a metal material(32). A coherent layer(4) is formed between the end portion side of the metal material and glass valve, and the length L of the coherent layer satisfies L>=1.0mm.
