A liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to uniformly rub an area where a pixel electrode and a common electrode are overlapped each other and an area between the pixel electrode and the common electrode with an alignment film in the same direction. A liquid crystal display device comprises a substrate, a thin film transistor(104), a protective layer(105), a pixel electrode forming groove(105a), a common electrode forming groove(105b), a pixel electrode(106), and a common electrode(107). A gate line and a data line cross each other to form the substrate. The thin film transistor is formed in an area where the gate line and the data line of each pixel of the substrate cross each other. The thin film transistor comprises a gate electrode(104a), a source electrode(104d), and a drain electrode(104e). The protective layer is formed on the substrate in which the thin film transistor is formed. The pixel electrode forming grooves and the common electrode forming grooves are alternatively formed in every protective layer of each pixel in parallel. The pixel electrode forming grooves and the common electrode forming grooves are formed from an upper surface to a lower part of the protective layer. |
