A cap assembly, a secondary battery containing the cap assembly are provided to prevent the generation of crack on a vent due to the external pressure and the leakage of the gas inside a battery, thereby improving the safety of a battery. A cap assembly(30) comprises a cap plate(31) which has a vent(313) formed on one surface, wherein the cap plate is provided with a reinforcing part(314) at the region adjacent to the vent. A secondary battery(100) comprises an electrode assembly(10); a can(20) which accommodates the electrode assembly and has an aperture; and the cap assembly.
