A rotary switch assembly for an air conditioner in a vehicle is provided to prevent distortion in the rotation of a knob by effectively delivering the operation force of the knob to a cable switch assembly and forming the diameter of a holder supporting the knob. A rotary switch assembly(100) for an air conditioner comprises housings(110,120), a holder(130), a knob(140), a detent unit(135), and cable switch assemblies(150,170). The holder is installed in a through-hole to be rotated. The through-hole longitudinally passes through the housing. The knob is located in the front of the housing. The knob is coupled with a holder. The detent unit is installed between the holder and the housing. The detent unit locks the knob in the specific rotational location in the rotation of the knob. The cable switch assembly is connected to the holder to be detached. The cable switch assembly is delivered with the operating force of the knob through the holder. The cable switch assembly operates a cable(160) controlling an air conditioning system.
