A system and a method for providing a presence service in an IMS(IP multimedia subsystem) network to reflect presence information of a mobile communication terminal going into a shadow area are provided to reflect presence information of a wireless communication terminal going into the shadow area, thereby improving reliability of a presence service. A presence server(320) manages presence information of terminals. The presence server requests real-time report about session change information of an online terminal to an IP(Internet Protocol) location server(420) and changes presence information of the terminal according to information which is reported in real time. When a session of the requesting terminal is released, the IP location server transmits wireless link release information of a corresponding terminal to the presence server.
