<p>A bacterial conversion process for producing a homopolymer, poly (3-hydroxypentanoic acid) from levulinic acid, is described. The process uses Rhizobium sp. to accomplish the conversion. The polymer is biodegradable and has a favorable glass transition temperature and melting point. It is useful in any setting where a biopolymer is used.</p> |
