<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply a chemically defined treatment in an industrial scale fermentation in order to avoid problems associated with usual methods of using complex media in the present industrial scenes. <P>SOLUTION: The use of chemically defined media for fermentation production of valuable compounds on an industrial scale is provided. Microbial strains suitable for fermentation on the industrial scale using the chemically defined media include fungal, yeast and bacterial strains.
