<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable mechanical pencil capable of protruding a tip member 10 by pressing a knob 20 protruded from the rear end of a shaft cylinder and putting out a core 6 by shaking. <P>SOLUTION: A tip member 10 disposed in the front of an inner shaft 9 is energized backward in a longitudinal direction by a return spring 14. The tip member 10 is protruded by pressing a knob 20 protruded from the rear end of a shaft cylinder, and the inner shaft 9 is locked in an advancing position by a locking means to turn into a writing state. A weight 8 is incorporated in the inner shaft 9, and the knob 20 is provided on a pressing member 18.
