摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination apparatus that can irradiate a fluorescent material with excitation light without forming a shadow of a light source on an excitation light irradiation side and can perform fluorescent light emission with high light use efficiency while allowing the illumination apparatus to be compact. <P>SOLUTION: The illumination apparatus includes a light source 11 for emitting blue light LB or ultraviolet light LUV as excitation light and a reflective plate 15 having a fluorescent reflective surface 15A on its front face. The fluorescent reflective surface 15A is placed obliquely at a predetermined angle &theta; and irradiated with the excitation light emitted from the light source 11 to be excited for fluorescent emission. On the fluorescent reflective surface 15A, the excitation light emitted from the light source 11 is incident from a lateral direction. The incident excitation light and the emitted light obtained by the excitation of the fluorescent reflective surface 15A are mixed in color to reflect the resultant on an illumination object side as illumination light (white light 17). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
