摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distinguish a direction of a fluorescent lamp in a manufacturing method of a direct-down type backlight unit wherein adjacent fluorescent lamps are alternately arranged. <P>SOLUTION: In a fluorescent lamp including a glass bulb 26, electrodes fitted inside both ends of the glass bulb 26, lead wires connected to the electrodes and drawn outside from both ends of the glass bulb, and a phosphor layer formed on an inner face other than the both ends of the glass bulb, the lead wires are made of kovar or molybdenum, a thermal expansion coefficient of the glass bulb is 45×10<SP>-7</SP>[K<SP>-1</SP>] to 56×10<SP>-7</SP>[K<SP>-1</SP>], and a length of a phosphor-layer-non-existant area extending from one end of the glass bulb and a length of a phosphor-layer-non-existant area extending from the other end of the glass bulb are as much different as can be distinguished by a sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p>
