PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal oscillator which, in order to suppress frequency aging, predicts long-term aging in a short period of time by a temperature acceleration test and compensates for the predicted aging optimally using an external circuit. SOLUTION: The crystal oscillator predicts long-term aging through an acceleration test with temperature taken into account, stores into a memory compensation data corresponding to operation times and temperatures, measures an operation time and an ambient temperature, reads from the memory the compensation data corresponding to the operation time and the temperature, and compensates for output frequency aging and the temperature.
