PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crime-prevention system and a communication converter for the crime prevention system for reducing the number of reports to be made from a control device to a security center due to communication failure other than a unit itself of a non-contact reader, specifying the causes of the failure by operations on site or by a system itself, further extremely reducing the number of persons, unit transportation costs, etc., required to check the system by improving the communication reliability of the system in a crime-prevention system of entrance/exit management using contention system communications. SOLUTION: The crime-prevention system comprises: remote operation units 2 (non-contact readers); a control device 1 for receiving state signals of crime-prevention units or state signals of the operation units 2 to monitor-control the system; a master unit 3a of a communication converter for a crime-prevention system which is connected to the control device 1 and is equipped with a communication circuit self-diagnostics result display function; and slave units 3b of the converter, the slave units 3b and the operation units 2 are connected in a one-to-one manner.
