PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus for suppressing jam of transfer paper caused by a spur and a feeler of a jam detecting sensor, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus comprises: at least a fixing member 1; a separating claw 3 arranged so that its tip part abuts on the surface of the fixing member 1; a guide plate spur member 11 provided at a paper delivery guide plate 7; and the jam detecting sensor having the feeler 10a swinging in association with contact with an image recording material. The separating claw 3, the feeler 10a and the guide plate spur member 11 are arranged in this order in the discharge direction of the image recording material on one face side forming the discharge path of the image recording material from the fixing member 1. A projecting part 7a for guiding the image recording material to the discharge path is provided between the separating claw 3 and the feeler 10a.
