PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous adhesive composition which exhibits excellent adhesive power when used for adhering wood rich in gum and which is excellent in water resistance, heat resistance and durability. SOLUTION: The aqueous adhesive composition comprises a principal agent containing a water-soluble polymer, a curing agent consisting of an isocyanate compound, a compound having the structure shown by general formula (A): R<SP>1</SP>-(CH<SB>2</SB>-CH(R<SP>2</SP>)-O)<SB>n</SB>-R<SP>3</SP>, and an epoxy compound. A polyamide epoxy compound, which is obtained by reacting epihalohydrin with polyamine or polyamide, can be used alone as the epoxy compound or both of the polyamide epoxy compound and a tetrafunctional epoxy compound having a tertiary amino nitrogen atom can be used simultaneously as the epoxy compound. The water-soluble polymer is at least one selected from the group consisting of the water-soluble polymer, aqueous latex and an aqueous emulsion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
