PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet treating device and an image forming device capable of preventing the aligning performance for the side edge of sheets from dropping when they are stapled by a stapler while the treating speed without stapling process is well secured. SOLUTION: A treating roller installed at a treating roller holder 211 abuts a sheet to a width restricting plate 239, and in this condition, the roller moves on the sheet. The moving speed of the roller to the width restricting plate 239, when the processing information of stapling the sheets is obtained, is set lower than when no information is obtained, Therefore, the sheet treating device does not drop the aligning performance for the side edges of the sheets when they are stapled, while the device secures the treating speed when no stapling is made.
