PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of determining accurately whether any abnormality originating from swings of a rocking body exists or not. SOLUTION: The main rope 11 to hang down a car 4 and a balance weight 5 is installed away from a terminal switch 16 to be equipment in a hoistway and a landing sensing plate 17. The distances from the main rope 11 to the terminal switch 16 and the landing sensing plate 17 vary with the main rope 11 rocking in the horizontal direction. A first contact sensor 22 is installed in the neighborhood of the terminal switch 16 while a second contact sensor 23 is arranged in the neighborhood of the landing sensing plate 17. The first and second contact sensors 22 and 23 sense whether a contact with the main rope 11 exists or not. A controller 7 of an elevator controls the operation of the elevator on the basis of the information given by the first and second contact sensors 22 and 23. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
