It is possible to reduce the memory capacity of a buffer of a relay connection unit and reduce the time required for deciding a message to be transmitted. A relay connection unit (10) is arranged between buses (31) to which electronic control units (30) are connected and relays a message transmitted and received between the electronic control units belonging to different buses. The relay connection unit (10) includes: a buffer (15) which temporarily stores messages in the order of receptions; a storage unit (17) which stores the priority set for each of the message; and a processing unit (16) which extracts N messages in the order of the receptions from the buffer (15), reads the priorities of the respective messages extracted from the storage unit, compares the priorities of the N messages, and transmits the message having the highest priority.
