<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skins, excellent in a moisture-retaining property and the like, although various cosmetics containing the extracts of plants, such as a cosmetic containing an extract of morning-glory, a cosmetic containing the extract of strawberry, and a cosmetic containing an extract of carnation have been proposed. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is the external preparation for the skins, containing an extract of a plant belonging to Gunneraceae, such as Gunnera manicata, Gunnera magellanica, Gunnera hamiltonii, Gunnera chilensis Lam., or Gunnera perpensa L.
