<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide developing method and device in an image forming apparatus, shortening the time required for refresh operation as much as possible and not lowering the toner scrape-off efficiency in performing a refresh operation of scraping off a toner thin layer on a developing roller 2 between paper sheets and then forming a toner thin layer 6 again in the touch-down developing system developing device. <P>SOLUTION: The time required for the refresh operation is shortened by increasing the peripheral speed of the developing roller 2 during the refresh operation more than that during the image formation, and the alternating current peak-to-peak voltage in toner thin layer forming bias applied to the developing roller 2 is made larger than that during the image formation, whereby the refresh operation can be performed without lowering the toner scrape-off efficiency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
