PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus and a recording method capable of performing a plurality of recording processes of different types for a recording medium without incurring increase in the size of the apparatus that is accompanied by an increase in the number of components and a decrease in the throughput of the apparatus that is accompanied by an increase in the process steps. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus includes a carriage that is freely movable in prescribed directions including a transport direction of continuous form paper 12, an ink injecting nozzle 32 that is mounted on the carriage to perform printing process on the continuous form paper 12, a coating solution injecting nozzle 33 that is mounted on the carriage to form overcoat 45 in the recording processing area of the continuous form paper 12 with printing process performed by the ink injecting nozzle 32, and a controller that controls the carriage, the ink injecting nozzle 32 and the coating solution injecting nozzle 33. While the ink injecting nozzle 32 performs printing process on the continuous form paper 12 at a time when the carriage is moving, the coating solution injecting nozzle 33 performs overcoat 45 formation on the recording processing area of the continuous form paper 12 transported in the transport direction at a time when the carriage is stopped.
