PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video-recording/playback apparatus wherein finding of the content data in retrieval is easy and high retrieval efficiency of content data is attained, with respect to the video-recording/playback apparatus comprising a means for moving (MOVE) or copying (COPY) copyright-protected content data to a device connected to a home network. SOLUTION: When copyright-protected content data are moved (MOVE) or copied (COPY), virtual attached information of the target content data is generated and held in a moving (MOVE) or copying (COPY) source device. When retrieving copyright-protected content data, the content data and the virtual attached information of the relevant content data are also to be retrieved. In the case that the virtual attached information is found prior to finding the content data, information of the relevant content data is acquired from the virtual attached information and utilized as auxiliary information of retrieval, thereby attaining improvement in retrieval efficiency.
