PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the vibration and noise of a rotary compressor by suppressing the variation of the output torque of its drive shaft. SOLUTION: The rotary compressor 1 including compression sections 20a and 20b overlaid on each other, and equipped with a cylinder 21 having annular compression chambers C1, C2, C3, C4 and an annular piston 22 accommodated in eccentricity in the compression chambers C1, C2, C3, C4 so as to partition the chambers into first compression chambers C1 and C3 and second compression chambers C2 and C4. The annular piston 22 has a piston 22a and is formed so that the surface area of the piston outer peripheral surface 25 of the piston 22a is equal to that of the piston inner peripheral surface 26.
