PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the technology of reliably fitting an element to a cleaner body without any deviation in the fitting position in an air cleaner for purifying air supplied to an engine. SOLUTION: An air cleaner 19 comprises an elliptical-annular element 22, a cleaner body 20 for fitting the element 22, and a cover 21. A protruding part 10 and projected parts 20a/20a are formed on an element fitting face of the cleaner body 20 and an abutting face formed opposite to the element fitting face in the element 22, respectively, so that the projected parts 20a/20a formed on the element fitting face are fitted to the protruding part 10 formed on the abutting face.
