Provided is a multilayer piezoelectric element having improved durability. The multilayer piezoelectric element comprises a laminate obtained by laminating a plurality of piezoelectrics and a plurality of internal electrodes alternately, and positive and negative external electrodes formed on the side face of the laminate. In the laminate, at least a pair of internal electrodes adjacent to each other in the direction of lamination out of the plurality of internal electrodes are connected with an external electrode of the same polarity, other internal electrodes than the at least a pair of internal electrodes are connected alternately with the positive and negative external electrodes, and the area of at least one of the pair of internal electrodes is made smaller than the other internal electrodes.
