<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when each auxiliary line aiding a description is continuously displayed in the same place, the auxiliary line may remain as an after-image (image persistence) depending on a display device. <P>SOLUTION: The display device includes: a frame memory 111 that develops auxiliary line images as display images; and a means for reading and displaying image data developed by the frame memory. In the display device, each of the auxiliary line image 201 is formed from a dotted auxiliary line 203 composed of: a background pixel; a pixel different from the background pixel in luminance or color; or a pixel almost the same as the background pixel in luminance or color. The dotted line is displayed by moving, at fixed time intervals or optional time intervals, the dotted line display area of each auxiliary line on the locus of a figure determined by the auxiliary line.
