PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a problem that an apparatus cannot be controlled even by manipulating a remote controller, and to prevent the control of operation of an external apparatus for manipulation of the remote controller from delaying. SOLUTION: When a button is manipulated, inquiry for selecting condition of a video signal to be displayed on a display unit 2 is sent to a television receiver 1 and a response of the selecting condition is returned from the television receiver 1 (S1). When the response of the selecting condition indicates selection of video signal or GUI signal of the broadcast received with a tuner provided within the television receiver 1, the control code corresponding to the button manipulated is transmitted to the television receiver 1 (S2). If the response of the selecting condition indicates selection of a reproduced video signal of a recorder 40, the control code corresponding to the manipulated button is transmitted to the recorder 40 (S2').
