PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confocal microscope that can obtain a plurality of slice images simultaneously and can change a relation between the heights of the slice images. SOLUTION: The confocal microscope includes; a point light source forming optical system (24) that forms a point light source (231); condensing optical systems (25 and 26) that condense illumination light emitted from the point light source onto a specimen; and detecting optical systems (24, 27, and 57) by which observation light emitted from the specimen according to the illumination light and made incident on the condensing optical systems is detected by a detector (57) via a confocal diaphragm (280) disposed in a conjugating position with respect to the condensing point. A plurality of illumination detecting units (100), each of which is composed of the point light source forming optical system and the detecting optical system, are disposed in the direction of the optical axis of the condensing optical system. Each of the illumination detecting units (100A, 100B, and 100C) can adjust an optical distance from the point light source to the condensing optical system for the unit while holding an optical relation between the point light source and the confocal diaphragm within the unit.
